Free Hawaiʻi Pepili - Original Art 5" Vinyl Sticker
From the artist: "Disrupted perfection" is what this image represents to me. The image in thebackground is like an advertisement of paradise... But the red graf-style writing over the top demands attention. This "Hawaiian Paradise" exists through the exploitation and abuse of Hawaiʻi. The text demands, "Free Hawaiʻi (and everywhere else) from illegal U.S. occupation <3" The rest of the text tries to make sense of how to be in the world of hurt we find ourselves in, "EA!" meaning life, sovereignty, breathe, and a call to rise up. "E kanu i ka huli ʻoi hāʻule ka ua," is an ʻōlelo noʻeau to plant the huli while it is raining or to use the storm as an opportunity...
"WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER," serves as a final reminder that we are ALL connected, we
actually might need each other, and our solutions to our pain must always be rooted in aloha...
