From the artist: Homage to a favorite holiday in February, this piece uses a commonly recognized cereal mascot to mock James Cook, a historical figure who has come to represent the global legacies of colonialism and genocide, and a man who met his death here in the Kingdom of Hawaiʻi on 14 February, 1779. I hesitated to share this piece since it isn't directly "affirming" or "constructive," but I ended up sharing it anyway because it's okay to express grief and anger through humor. If the piece were to stir up any internal conflict, that's probably okay too.
